What is an Independent Insurance Agency?

When it comes to insurance, there are three main ways you can buy policies: through independent agents, exclusive agents, or directly, online.

What's the difference (1)

Here’s the difference for you.

Purchasing a policy online means that you’re doing all the research, reading the fine print on each policy, and figuring out what you need to look for in order to protect what’s important to you.

An exclusive agent works for a single insurance company (like an agent who sells insurance for AAA or State Farm Insurance.) They only offer policies from the company they work for and will look for the best policy to suit your needs within that scope.

At independent insurance agencies (like The Point Insurance) agents are not limited to one insurance company. They ask you a series of questions about your priorities and shop multiple insurance providers to create the absolute best policy for your needs and budget.

They’re a local, one-stop shop for everything you need to insure. As licensed professionals, insurance agents are required to continue their education each year.

This means that, in most cases, it doesn’t really make sense to shop for policies online. Guidance from an independent agent can be very valuable. Any time you have a big life event, like getting married, having a baby, buying a new home, or starting a business, your insurance agent ensures that you are fully covered every step of the way.

What does all this mean? It’s simple. If you ever have a question or concern regarding any possible insurance issue, come into the office or give us a call (562) 806-0778!

Warmly,
Your Friends at The Point
